Spring Break
My children have been fighting for 240 minutes. Yes, I counted. 240 or 14 thousand 400 seconds of whining and fussing about absolutely nothing. Nothing is wrong. They have food and clean clothes, a house dry from the rain and spring storms. 14 thousand 400 seconds of stressing me out. Not long ago, the sounds of distress the blister of quarrel spilled over to my feet’s edge and I would mediate over their protests a habit I had to quit in order to initiate growth

A January Wreath
When it’s time to take the Christmas wreath off the front door I always feel a bit let down, and I can’t help but imagine the poor door shivering naked in the cold winter air. I know the stores immediately restocked all the Christmas shelves with new goodies in anticipation of that sweetheart of a February holiday, but it’s still too early to hang a Valentine wreath on my door. It’s also too early for springtime florals, even though I’d love to see something in bloom. This si

Paradise Found
Lay me down between the covers, pull the words up to my ears: saints and angels, liars, lovers, worlds of cheers and tears and fears. Wrap me up in worlds of wonder; I’ll read and dream through timeless years. Lay me down between the covers, pull the words up to my ears.

Simple Words of Kindness
Today I helped at my son’s school. As I did some paperwork to help my son’s English teacher with i-ready reading scores, a student came out from history class and sat near where I was doing some school work. She had lovely long hair that was dyed pink half way down her back. She was crying. I believe she found history hard. Her teacher came out and said it would be okay and not to cry. He was trying to be nice, but the level of school work these days is most challenging. I fe

Memories of Irma
Poof! The structure is a cartoon. Beams burst out like watch springs, floors flay like toothpicks, joists now sticks cannot hold a load, or be re-constructed back into that intricate attic cathedral. Even cross beams and braces that once had the elegance of a mantis now resemble scrambled eggs, the skeletal remains of Irma’s destruction Like sailors venerating the safety of their ship, my family’s achievements were deferentially displayed in the cocooned walls of our home. No
